Home Child Care Provider Pilot

Immigration Canada has received at least 2,750 applications under the Home Child Care Provider pilot. This means the pilot is closed to new applications for 2021, any other applications will not be received.

The pilot will reopen to new applications on January 1, 2022. You can also look into other options for caregivers in Canada. Caregivers who are already in Canada could also have the opportunity to apply for permanent residence through the recently announced temporary residence to permanent residence pathway for essential workers.

What a visitor visa is, eligibility and how to apply.

The list of Documents required for a visitor visa depends on your personal profile. Some of the general documents required are as follow:

  • Have a valid travel document/passport.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Have sufficient funds for their proposed stay.
  • Satisfy an immigration officer that they will leave Canada at the end of their visit.
  • Have a letter of invitation from sponsor, friends or relatives in Canada, if applicable.
  • Provide the travel itinerary and to and from air tickets.
  • Be in good health.

Qualifying work experience

Qualifying work experience means you’ve worked full-time in Canada in 1 of these National Occupational Classification (NOC) jobs:

Home child care provider - NOC 4411 experience as a foster parent doesn’t count

or

Home support worker - NOC 4412 experience as a housekeeper doesn’t count.
